Feb 19th – Under 12 Cup Macroom (1) – (2) WGH

On Sunday Feb 19th our under 12's travelled to Macroom for the next round of the local cup. In the corresponding league fixture earlier in the season we lost to Macroom 3-2, so we knew this was going to be a tough game.It was a very evenly contested game in the first half with both sides putting the defenses under pressure. It was not till the 20th minute that the deadlock was broke with a lovely goal from Sean Desmond. Macroom 0 -1 WGH. Five minutes later Macroom broke and  crossed into our box and unfortunatly the ball deflected off our coner back for an O.G. It finished half time Macroom 1-1 WGH.In the second half we went out and up the tempo fighting for every ball with Christy Graham leading by example. It was not till the 50th minute that we were rewarded for our hard work with a great goal from Dara O leary. Macroom 1 - 2 WGH. From here on we pushed hard for more goals and were unfortunate not to capitalize on our 2 goals. Well done to all the lads for a great performance and a great win to reach the last 16 of the local cup. While there was some fantastic performances all over the pitch with a special mention for Christy Graham and Mark O Riordan, the man of the match goes to Seamus Ahern for his fantastic defensive performance.A big thanks to all the parents who travelled.
