April 1st – U8 – Watergrasshill (5) v (3) Youghal

Our under 8's had our first league game in the Small Sided League this evening at home to Youghal.

We started the first period in good fashion and went into an early 2-0 lead with goals from Eoghan and Darragh. However in the next period Youghal came out really strong and began to take control of the game. We managed to increase our lead with another goal from Eoghan before Youghal pulled a goal back to make the score 3-1 to WGH. Ryan was making some excellent saves in goal, the highlight being a penalty save.  As the period continued we came more into the game and extended our lead with an excellent solo goal from Brendan to leave the score 4-1 going into the final period.

We started to lose our shape a bit in the final period which resulted in Youghal creating a lot of chances and it wasn't long before they took advantage of these and pulled the score back to 4-3. The lads were tired and holding on as Youghal continued to create chances. We managed to seal victory with a breakaway goal in the final minute, scored by Daniel.
