April 1st – U12 Watergrasshill (2) v (2) Macroom
U12 Watergrasshill (2) v (2) Macroom
On Saturday March 31st we hosted Macroom in the league. From the off we started very positively setting out our intentions. With 5 minutes gone we were rewarded with our first goal from Mark O Riordan on the right wing. A fantastic start and from here we pushed on harder. With 20 minutes gone we were rewarded with a second goal from Sean Desmond no more than what we deserved for our dominance of the game up to this point. Macroom pulled one back in the dying minutes of the first half with a very soft penalty. It finished half time Watergrasshill United 2 -1 Macroom. At the start of the second half Macroom came out fighting as we expected however we matched them player for player and again we pushed on to try to capitalize on the two goals we already had scored. Despite many many clear cut chances we were unable to increase upon our two goals. With only seconds left on the clock Macroom played the ball into their forward line and despite our keeper Niall O Sullivan having his two hands on the ball on the ground the Macroom centre forward kicked it out off his hands to draw the game, which was no fault of the referees in fairness as there must have been at least 6 players around the ball. To credit Macroom they made the most of their chances where as we missed many opportunities to close of the game, however every game is a learning process and with a small bit luck we will be getting the full three points from games like these as the dedication, hard work and ability is there at the moment. Our man of the match goes to Niall O Sullivan who played exceptionally well for his first time in goal. A big thanks to all the parents who came up to support us.
