Apr 7th – Under 13 League Win v Ballinhassig (4-0)
Picture: Watergrasshill United Under 13 Squad
On Saturday April 7th we hosted Ballinhassig in the league. It was important that we got a good result in this game to keep the pressure on Park United. From the off we pressed hard and most of the game in the first half was played in Ballinhassig's half. With Dan Dennehy playing in his more familiar role as centre forward he was putting the Ballinhassig back line under severe pressure. With Dan laying some lovely balls off to the wingers and our other centre forward Chris Healy, it was only a matter of time before we scored. On the 15th minute we were duly rewarded with a great goal from Chris Healy. WGH 1-0 Ballinhassig. We continued on in the same manner for the rest of this half and just before half time we got our second goal from Andrew Desmond. Half time finished WGH 2-0 Ballinhassig. In the second half Ballinhassig came out fighting and Watergrasshill now had a game on their hands. With our defenisive midfielder Arron Spiggs allowing very little past him we coped very well with anything Ballinhassig threw at us and as a result it allowed us to press hard to increase our two goal difference. It was not till the 45th minute that we scored our third goal. With Dan Dennehy putting a cross into Jason Power on the far post for Jason to score his first ever goal for WGH. Watergrasshill United 3-0 Ballinhassig. Five minutes later Dan picked up a pass from Adam O Sullivan in midfield to pass Ballinhassig's centre back to score our fourth of the day, no more than what he deserved for his contribution to every goal and his excellent work rate for the day. It finished Watergrasshill United 4-0 Ballinhassig. As mentioned earlier it was important that we got a good result in this game so as to keep the pressure on the league leaders Park United and that is just what we did, with four goals scored and more importantly a clean sheet.
