Apr 15th – U12 Glounthaune (3) v (2) WGH

On Sunday April 15th we travelled to Glounthaune for a league fixture.
From the kick off we started well and for the first 10 minutes we controlled the game. With shots flying in on top of the Glounthaune keeper from every angle we were very unlucky not to have scored from this early domination. However Glounthaune started to come into the game and it was now end to end stuff, with our keeper Niall O Sullivan pulling of some amazing saves to keep the game tied. Towards the dying minutes of the first half Glounthaune caught us on the break to score the first goal of the game. Halftime finished Glonthaune 1-0 WGH.
In the second half we went out and Glounthaune caught us very early from a coner kick to score their second of the day. Glounthaune 2-0 WGH. While we were pushing very hard to get our first goal we were caught on the break again for Glounthaune to score their third of the day. Glounthaune 3-0 WGH. The scoreline at this point was not a true reflection of the game so far, while we had chance after chance we were unable to put them away. However credit to the lads they kept at it and for the final 20 minutes of the game we sat in Glounthaune's third of the field. During this final spell which we absolutely dominated we were rewarded with two goals. One from Sean Desmond and a penalty from Owen Desmond. At the final whistle which Glonthaune were very relieved to hear it finished Glounthaune 3-2 WGH.
To any person standing watching this match they would agree that the final score was not a true reflection of how the game went and WGH were very unlucky not to get a least a point from this game. However that is the game of soccer and not to take anything away from Glounthaunes victory who took their chances.
Well done to all the lads from 1- 14 who never gave up,played with great pride and heart and were a credit to themselves, parent's,club and their managers. With a special mention for our goal keeper Niall O Sullivan and our left winger Padraig O Brien but our man of the goes to Sean Desmond for his work rate and fantastic attitude.

Thanks to all the parents who travelled to support us.
