May 14th – U13 Ballinhassig (3) v (1) Watergrasshill

Ballinhassig 3  Watergrasshill 1

On a windy but dry afternoon we fielded a very young team against Ballinhassig missing 8 regular players.

A BIG THANKS to all the 11 players that helped us field a team this evening

We played against the wind in the first half  and with Chisty /Owen and Sean very unlucky not to score, Illea played as a lone striker and held up the ball really well in a very hard task with us playing against the wind.

Andrew played a very disciplined role in storing up our Midfield and had his best game in a UTD shirt all season

Karol worked the left flank very well as did Christy on the right, our Back 4 played really well with Conor and Darren at center back cutting ever ball with Joe and Tom playing  so well it made their life easier as half time came upon us Ballinhassig scored - Down 1 nil at half time

A great few words from Captain on the Night Darren had us on our way. With the wind on our side we moved sean up front to help Illea and it paid off with in 5 mins. A beautiful run skipped past 3 players and stuck to ball in to the roof off the net . SEAN SCORES ..

Game on ...1 all ..

We really pushed on from here ...every member of the team doing more than there bit we had Ballinhassig pegged in corner after corner

We hit the post /crossbar /missing the target by a whisker ..

Andrew /Darren putting in them VITAL  tackles. Conor controlling how we played with Owen and Sean tearing their defense apart it is unbelievable we didn't score any ball that came Kirean way he dealt with with ease ...A FINE KEEPER INDEED

We were starting to tire Ballinhassig with 5 subs now on had fresh legs, less than 4 mins the Ref told us all. But these lads did not want a draw and kept going for the winner  but in doing so we got caught on the Break 2 -1.  2 mins left Christy strikes a beautiful ball keeper saves a corner . Owen floats in a lovely ball another corner, Owen takes again falls to Sean  he shoots  it  hits the bar, keeper clears ball up the field we are in trouble 3-1. We center the ball ..Game Over

It is not often in defeat you can same, this was a proud moment what a team performance /what heart with a bit off luck this game was ours.

Well done Lads and remember after this performance you all Deserve to start the next game .....

AS IT MUST BE SAID WE WERE SHORT 8 FIRST TEAM PLAYERS ON THE AGE

And you would not think it the way you all played and showed unreal courage and heart in a very

tough but clean hard game
