Sept 16th – U12 Blarney United (4) V (0) Watergrasshill United

The U12’s had their first league match of the season away to Blarney United on Sunday September 16th. This was always going to be a tough start for our squad as we stepped up to playing in Division Two and we found it quite challenging to adjust to the fast pace on their Astro Turf surface.

Even though we were missing four strong squad players , our lads fought very hard in the first half playing against a stiff breeze and we were very unlucky to concede an unfortunate goal just before half time. Despite our best efforts in the second half, and a great work rate from Sean Desmond and Tim Hegarty in particular in Midfield, and the diligent defending of our back four we ended conceding three more goals before the final whistle.

Colm Curtin was outstanding in goals , producing a number of fine saves to keep us competitive throughout the match. Well done also to Jack O Grady and Cathal Feehan on their debuts with the team.

Squad : Colm Curtin, Shane O Reilly, Ceadan Hogan, Rob McKenna, Jack O Grady, Sean Desmond, Harry Busceivich, Cathal Feehan, Tim Hegarty, Colin O Toole, Eoin Griffin, Stephen O Toole, Sean Graham, Paddy King.

Coaches – Pat Griffin, Dave Hogan.

Next match : 1st round of the National Cup away to Passage United on Sunday September 30th .

Next League match at home v Buttevant on weekend on October 6th/7th.

Thanks to everybody for their support on the day.
