Sep 30th – U12 National Cup 1st Round Result

Match Report : U12 National Cup 1st round Passage United v Watergrasshill United WGH

On the second outing this season got off to a great start when our Captain Sean Desmond got on the end of an excellent cross in from the left by James O Leary. WGH went two goals up after 10 minutes when Jerry Hurley finished off a nice period of play set up by midfielder Shane O Reilly and we were now well in control of the game.

Passage got back in to the game after 20 minutes when a deflected shot beat Harry Buscievich who was standing in for our regular keeper. Sean Desmond added a third goal after a great surge forward from midfield just before half time to leave the score at 3 : 1 in our favour at the break. Fortunately we had a full squad of players available and we were therefore able to make 5 substitutions during the second half and each of those players added a fine contribution to this excellent team performance.

James O Leary scored our fourth with a clever shot that chipped over their keeper and Colm Curtin made it 5 : 1 when he calmly dispatched a well deserved penalty with about 10 minutes to go. In fairness to Passage , they did not give in and they got two well deserved goals back late on to make the final scoreline 5 : 3 to us.

Result : Passage United 3 : Watergrasshill United 5
