Nov 3rd – U14 St Marys (1) v (3) Watergrasshill United

St Marys provided opposition today in our fourth match of our League campaign. St Marys also completed for us, all opposition from last year’s Division 2 teams. The sun mislead us as it shone on a cold and bitter day. It wasn't long before the action happened and in the seventh minute we were awarded a penalty after Daniel was taken down as he raced in on goal. He picked himself up, composed himself and gave us the lead. St Marys 0 WGH1. It didn't take long for St Marys to equalise. 3 minutes later a mistake by us allowed them to score St Marys 1 WGH 1. From here on we took control of the game and played some beautifull football. We were in total control and the only thing that troubled Kiernan was the sun. He forgot his hat. Darren, playing on the wing today was linking well with Andrew on the left, Adam & James playing some top quality threw balls for Tom and Daniel who keep the St Marys defence on their toes. Seamus has this natural ability to beat defenders and he did so again today to great effect at times. Jack slotted in a right back and Jason and Luke are getting stronger game by game together. The question was whether it was going to be our day or not.

Half time score of St Marys 1 WGH 1.

The second half was no different as we were in total control and defended well to anything that was thrown at us. An injury to Tom brought Colin on who played in midfield allowing James & Adam to push on more and support Daniel. Some excellent goalkeeping from St Marys kept them in the game as we drove on for the winner. The great thing about these lads is that a team in not developing but a squad and this was the case again today. Chris and Eoin came on to play down the right and it was from a pass by Chris which resulted in Daniel scoring with 15 minutes to go. St Marys 1 WGH 2. St Marys then for the first time in the match took control and pushed on looking for the equaliser but Jason & Luke stood strong. Eoin was tormenting their left back since he came on and we were awarded another penalty after some great play by him. Daniel once again found the net and completed his hatrick.

Final Score: St Marys 1 WGH 3

Match Captain: Luke

Squad: Kiernan, Luke, Jason, Jack, Adam, Darren, Chris, James, Andrew, Seamus, Daniel, Colin, Eoin, Tom
