Nov 18th – U14 Castleview (6) v (1) Watergrasshill United
In a winters day, cold and a bitter driving rain we headed to play Castleview away. They currently top the table with an undefeated record and it was clear to see why. We more than held our own in the first half but things slipped away in the second half where the lads who ran their socks off finally gave way to tiredness and the weather. We took a squad of 12 and its clear to see that we were short on numbers to freshen things up.
The game kicked off with the little between the sides. It took us 7 minutes to open our account through James from a corner and it was game on. Castleview from here took control of the game and made numerous chances but to no avail. Defence stood strong and at times it was every man to the pump. This left a void in midfield and our front man isolated. As they put the ball in, we cleared it out but it just came back again. We broke at times with some good play but couldn't add to the score line. With 2 minutes before half time Castleview struck. A bitter pill and bad time to lose a goal.
Half time score of Castleview 1 WGH 1.
Second half was more of the same from Castleview and 10 minutes in they took the lead. From here through no lack of error, momentum drove Castleview on and they added another 4 goals. A harsh score line in the end but the better team on the day won. We sit 3rd in the league at present which is an excellent achievement is a tough Division.
Final Score: Castleview 6 WGH 1
