WATERGRASSHILL UNITED U16 TEAM TRIUMPH IN NATIONAL CUP LAST 32 AT SKEHANAGH PARK

U16 National Cup Last 32 Watergrasshill United 2 Malahide United 1

On last Saturday Feb 2nd Watergrasshill United U16’s had a tremendous win in the National Area Last 32 win over a very skilful Malahide United team from the North Dublin League. Wgh United started well and were very unlucky in the first 15 minutes having a ball cleared off the line and a marginal offside goal disallowed. Gradually Malahide found their feet and took the lead on the half hour with a somewhat dubious goal. Thankfully Wgh quickly recovered their composure and equalised on the stroke of half time with a tremendous free kick from Josh Cooke.

The second half was end to end stuff with Watergrasshill gradually getting on top. With 15 minutes to go a great through ball from Dilan O Donovan resulted in Adam Murphy being fouled for a clear penalty. Up stepped Dilan to score giving Watergrasshill a well deserved lead.

In the last 15 minutes both teams had chances to score but in the end Watergrasshill prevailed to set up a last 16 meeting with fellow Cork team Kilreen Celtic.
