Watergrasshill U10’s impress against Springfield (COBH)

Our under 10's travelled to Cobh on Saturday to play 2 games against springfield. Our first match kicked off at 3pm and with the help of  4 Watergrasshill Under 9's the lads settled into their game of 3 x 15 mins. After the first 15 mins the lads were 1 up after a lovely goal from Kyle. The next two 15 mins were 50\50, with springfield testing our back 4 of Sean Murphy ,Brendan Lehane, Andrew Chandler and Eoghan Knaap along with some great saves from Ryan O'Mahony keeping the score at 1-0. Then the midfield of Sean Edwards, playing inspired soccer alongside Dylan Roche, took the game to Cobh and with Kyles wonder goal Watergrasshill were two up.
The Under 10's grew in confidence after the second goal and with some great play from Brendan and Darragh Casey, Cobh were pushed back into their own half. Goals from Dylan and Eoghan Knaap, who was unlucky not to have a hatrick, sealed the win in the end.
The second game kicked off at 4pm for another 3 x 15 mins match in which the lads took their time settling down. Cobh kept piling on the pressure with corner after corner,  this was dealt with by Craig in goal who pulled off numerous saves to keep the score level . The second 15 mins was a different story with Ben Nodwell and Ben Atkinson starting to control midfield. The lads took control but after a long ball from the Cobh keeper to their striker we were 1 down. True to form, the lads didnt panic, a great pass from Ben Nodwell to Bradley Walsh, who beat two defenders to score and level the match. The rest of the match was end to end and the back 4 of Dillion Field, Davan, Liam and Dean dealt well with Cobhs attacks. Late in the game some nice passing from Ian and Ben Aktinson nearly unlocked Cobh for the winner but a draw is how it finished. A special mention to Dean for man marking their no 12 in the game, Dean showed great discipline in this role and was the key to getting a result against a strong Cobh team.
Thanks again to all parents for travelling to a lovely but cold Cobh to support the lads, but the coaches would like to remind parents that support for the lads is great but instructions in how play confuses them and may be different to their training or coaching.
