Under 9’s kickoff SSG League

Our U9’s kicked off their Small Sided Games with a defeat to Greenwood in Togher. With the sunshine and agreement from Denis (Greenwood) we kicked off in a 3 – 3 – 3 formation and soon found ourselves a goal down against the run of play. To their credit the lads batted back to tie up the score 1 – 1 at the end of the first period with an OG. The second period saw an increase in numbers with a late arrival and the 3 – 4 – 3 formation. Two well taken goals from Greenwood left the score 3 – 1 at the end of the period. The 3^rd period was a different story and we totally controlled the game resulting in numerous chances in a crowed goalmouth but to no avail. Some fine goalkeeping from Greenwood and bodies on the line prevented a deserved comeback which is what the lads deserved from their effort in this period.

To be fair to the lads, in order to ensure everyone got as much time as possible 11 aside was too much for the size of the pitch and had an impact on performance. Rotating policy at times will not do us any favours but will stick with this from the lads request for the remainder of the SSG.
