Well deserved win for our U13’s against Midleton. Watergrasshill U13 (2) – Midleton U13 (0)

Watergrasshill U13 (2) vs. Midleton U13 (0)

On Friday 5th April we welcomed Midleton to Skehanagh park. It was our first evening game of the season and while it was cold it was good conditions for a game. It was our first game in over four weeks and it was important we we got a result after our recent loss to Douglas.

The long break between games was very evident from us in the first half. It took us a long time to settle and we spent a lot of the time chasing the game. Midleton kept pressing us high up the field, however we managed to hold out till half time, were the game remained scoreless. Watergrasshill 0 - 0 Midleton

While the first half belonged to Midleton the second half was a completely different story. We increased the tempo of the game, started stringing some passes together and we were now keeping the Midleton keeper busy. The deadlock was not broke till the 45th minute when direct from a corner kick Padraig O Brien scored a great goal. Watergrasshill 1 - 0 Midleton. We continued to press hard and were now dominating in many key areas of the field. On the 53rd minute Colin Cronin put a ball across the box for Jake O Brien to tap it in for our second of the day, a real poachers goal.  Watergrasshill 2 - 0 Midleton. Midleton pressed hard to try and get one back, but our keeper Niall O Sullivan pulled off some great saves. Well done to our keeper Niall O Sullivan and the back four of Shane O Reilly, Sean Desmond, Tom Murray and Seamus Ahern for keeping a clean sheet, which is just as important as scoring.
It was important we got this result to keep us in contention for a promotion spot. Well done to all the lads and a big thanks to all the parents who came to support us.
