SSG U9 – Watergrasshill (6) Vs. Midleton (0)

On a cold and misty Tuesday with a cross wind, our U9’s took on Midleton in a rearranged game.

We played 8 aside and the first period was very evenly matched without much goal scoring opportunities from both sides. We took the lead through a corner in which Rory clinically tucked home Eoghans cross. First period finished WGH 1 Midleton 0.

The second period, with the rain remaining constant, was again very evenly contested and chances were rare. A fantastic save from Ryan on the line prevented the equaliser. The weather was taking its tole on the players but to their credit both teams battled away before we extended our lead with a goal from Eoghan (Right foot to the bottom corner). Second period ended Watergrasshill 2 Midleton 0.

In the final period we took more control of the game with the lads starting to play more adventurous football in taking on the opposition before releasing the pass. Ryan had come out from goal and played up front and bagged a hatrick. Dylan rounded off the scoring to make it a final score of Watergrasshill 6 Midleton 0.

Special mention for Jim who make his Watergrasshill United U9 debut tonight.

Today’s Team: Eoghan, Ryan, Dylan R, Jim, Joseph, Sam, Rory, Darragh.

Next match away to Midleton next Saturday leaving Watergrasshill NS school at 4.15pm.

Thanks to Midleton for making the trip to Skehanagh Park and thanks to all parents and supporters for their continued support.

Special thanks to Niall from Midleton and Referee Rob.
