Under 9’s finish their season away against Carrigaline

u9send2013

On Tuesday, June 20th - we travelled to Carrigaline with our Under 9 team for an end of season friendly. Today was all about getting the lads together for one last match and to show myself and Robs appreciation for this U9 team who have throughout the season excelled in all matches not only in football but also in team spirit. We had 13 players turn up for a 6.30 KO in Carrigaline and this is a testament to their commitment and love of the game. It is also a statement of dedication for the parents who give up their time in taking their sons to these games and we thank you for your continued support.

Summary of today’s game :

We took a 1 goal lead through Eoghan before Carrigaline pulled a goal back and subsequently took the lead. 2-1 Carrigaline. Eoghan equalised before Sam restored our lead. Ryan extended our lead from a pass by Rory and then increased our lead running ¾ of the pitch to shouts of pass the ball to score an excellent goal. Brendan rounded off the scoring with a class header. Final score Watergrasshill United U9 (6) vs Carrigaline United (2).

We rotated our players for the season as agreed with the players at the start of the year and endeavoured to give everyone 2/3s game time for all matches. Next year brings a few changes for the lads with the introduction of kick outs from ground, throw ins and offside. The matches also increase to 9v9. We aim to bring all the players ability, skills and techniques and blend them into a team ethos and every player to improve not only as a player but also a person.

Today’s Team: Ryan, Eoghan, Eoin, Dylan R, Brendan, Joseph, Sam, Darragh, Jim, Dylan F, David, Daniel, Rory

Thanks to all parents and other U9 supporters for their continued support during the year. It is very much appreciated by myself and Rob

Special thanks to Mick from Carrigaline who facilitated us with this match and to Watergrasshill United who sponsored the McDonalds to finish off the season on a high.
A great end to a fantastic season.
