U14’s Take All Three Points Away to Kinsale

Our U14's travelled to Madden Park earlier this morning for a league match against Kinsale.

Having played Kinsale at home earlier in the season, we knew this game would be physical and difficult against tough opposition. We started the game quite well and about 15mins into the 1st half Owen played a great pass down the wing to Seamus, who whipped in a low ball for Evan who gave us the lead.

The remainder of the first half saw us under a bit of pressure but we saw the game through to half time with a 1-0 lead. The second half started lively and Kinsale managed to sneak an equalizer after a long ball over the top five minutes into the second half.

However, the lads re-grouped and started competing a bit better and should have been rewarded with a goal only for it to be incorrectly ruled out for offside. Minutes later, Kinsale themselves had a goal ruled out and there was successive goal-line clearances at either end.

With ten minutes to go, Owen swung in a corner kick and after a scramble in the box, Evan poked it into the Kinsale net to give us a 2-1 lead. With only a few minutes left, Kinsale pushed for the equalizer but we managed to clear our lines and Shane  played Sean through with a fine pass who sealed the win for us.

This was a dogged performance and a great win away from home which will push us up the table. However there's still plenty of work to be done to make sure we finish the season strongly.

Training continues Thursday 7-8.30pm.

Thanks from Mark and Frank.

Squad: Niall, Ceadan, Tom, Lee, Shane, Seamus, Owen, Pádraig O' Brien, Evan, Jake, Sean.
