U11 CSL Div 2 Update

After  a 5(!) week break due to the weather, our U11's played their fifth competitive CSL division 2 game earlier today against Youghal on their sunny Ardrath grounds. Pressuring the Youghal defence from the kick off we saw some great passing from Cillian, Eoghan, Nicky, Rory and Adam in the first half resulting in 5 goals and plenty of near misses. Special mention for Adam's long distance goal from the half way line. Our backs, Ryan, Daniel and Adam directed by captain of the day Brendan, showed some solid defending and kept a clean sheet helped by some solid keeping from Ronan. We brought in all our subs in the second half, introducing Darragh and Joseph at the back and Dylan F up front. Only 2 minutes into the second half, Brendan soloed all the way from the back line to add the sixth goal on the match card. We kept pressing and pressing and like in the first half we had more of the ball. With attack in our minds, we took our eyes of the ball for one moment at the back. A Youghal striker escaped the offside trap and went one on one with the goalkeeper only to be stopped by a fantastic save by Ryan who replaced Ronan in goal at half time. 4 more goals followed in the second half, one ever better executed than the other. A great lob over the goalie, a curve ball in the back of the net, a pass over the defence by Ronan finished by our captain and a great solo from Dylan F. Well done lads. A great game where we saw some great passing, solid defending, great effort on the wings and in the back but also a lot of things we can improve on. So training continues next Tuesday from 7-8 and Wednesday on Astro from 7-8. €2 contribution.

Next match will be the top of the table clash against Macroom at home on Sunday Dec 14. More details closer to the date.
