Watergrasshill U11A (1) – Macroom U11A (1)

Our Under 11's played Macroom in their 7th CSL game on a frozen Skehanagh earlier this morning. On what was a sunny but crispy morning we took on Macroom for the second time this season. After beating them with the tiniest of margins in the Kevin Dillon Cup, we knew we were up against a strong and motivated team. Our defence lead by Denis, Garreth and David, and supported by Jack, didn't give away much during the first half and caught the Macroom forwards a few time offside. Ben, Eimantas, and Eoghan O'Leary in midfield and Jim and Tim upfront kept the pressure on the well organised Marcroom midfield and backs. Our play didn't result in a lot of clear chances in front of the goal but it did generate 6 corner kicks. Corner kicks that need some extra attention in the upcoming training sessions as we were struggling to convert them into real chances. Both teams went in at half time level 0-0. Watergrasshill U11A (0) - Macroom U11A (0) .

In the second half we introduced Callum as left back replacing David and from the kickoff Macroom put our defence under fierce pressure. In the 4th minute of the second half, our defence couldn't get rid of the ball fast enough and a well organised Macroom attack on the left hand side resulted in one of Macrooms midfielders finishing in the bottom right hand corner. Watergrasshill U11A (0) - Macroom U11A (1). We kept our head high and didn't give up. Within 5 minutes we broke the offside trap and timmy was one on one with the impressive Macroom goalie. A great save from the goalie didn't prevent Callum to lash the ball in the back of the net. Watergrasshill U11A (1) - Macroom U11A (1). During the last 20 minutes we saw two teams giving it their all and both pushing for a winner. A draw was probably the fairest result. Final Score: Watergrasshill U11A (1) - Macroom U11A (1)
