Watergrasshill United U11a vs Midleton U11a

Our U11a's faced another tough battle earlier today against Midleton. On a freezing and muddy Skehanagh, the lads had to work hard to keep a well passing and moving Midleton at bay. Eoin, Garreth and Eimantas, helped by Sam, were in control at the back and mostly snuffed out the Midleton attacks when they managed to break through a very hardworking midfield of Seweryn, Eoghan, and Jack. It was a Midleton corner kick early in the 7th minute that put us behind. The lads, didn't put their heads down and put pressure on the Midleton backs with Ben and Calum up front. We didn't give much away in the rest of the first half, Seweryn, Jack, Calum and Sam created some great chances,  and Louie was solid in goal. Half time score: Watergrasshill United U11a (0) - Midleton (1).

In the second half we changed our game plan and introduced Daniel up front, moved Seweryn to left back, introduced Jim and Calon as centre mids and David came in for Eimantas as centre back. Ben in goal gave is some great kick outs that kept us pressing and pressing and in the second half had probably more of the ball. 12 minutes before time, we got awarded a penalty. Game on. Unfortunately, we failed to convert this chance to the equaliser. With attack in our minds, we took our eyes of the ball for one moment. A moment that Midleton used to score the 0-2. Sam Dennehy brought us back in the game, by scoring a few minutes later. With only 3 minutes to go, we took a gamble, we gave it our all and we put everyone up front. The gamble backfired and Midleton caught us on the break and made it 1-3. A great game of football between two teams who gave it their all in the quest for victory. Final Score: Watergrasshill United U11a (1) - Midleton (3).

Today's Squad: Louie, Ben F, Eoin, Garreth, Jim, David, Eoghan O'L, Jack, Eimantas, Sam, Calum, Daniel, Caolan, Eoghan,

Today's goal Scorer: Sam Dennehy
