Watergrasshill v Shandon Celtic – AUL

In very windy conditions at Skehanagh Park, we went down 3-0 at home on Sunday morning to a young Shandon side. After a very bright opening when we we should have been at least a couple of goals to the good, we conceeded a corner from one of the first Shandon attacks. A goalbound header was instinctively handled on the goaline so the referee pointed to the spot, while issuing Ray Murphy the mandatory red card.  The penalty was converted and Shandon went in 1-0 at half time.

We continued to push for an equaliser but were caught out from another corner when, in the blustery conditions an attempted clearance was miskewed and sneaked in past the defender on the line. Paddy O Regan continued to battle in the middle of the park and spray the passes around but the breakthrough didn't come . Being a man light, we went three at the back in the hope of getting back into the game but conceeded late on when the referree pointed to the spot again for a foul which was well outside the box & John Barton was again given no chance from the placed ball.

AULA disappointing result after a very good run since the start of December so we need to get back to winning ways next time out . Training as usual on Wednesday and next weekend as we have no league game
