U11 Passage United (1) vs. Watergrasshill United (4)

In our 8th league match of the season, we played Passage United at their Rockenham pitch in Passage West on Saturday Feb 21st. We left the hill with snow on the ground and the match kicked of in cold, wet and muddy conditions. We had most of the possession in the first 15 minutes but couldn’t break through. We finally scored in the 20th minute when a goal kick was intercepted by Adam. Adam headed the ball to Eoghan, who squeezed the ball between the keeper and the post. A great save from the passage goalie spoilt a brilliant 1-2 between Nicky and Eoghan just before the half time break. Half time score: Passage United (0) - Watergrasshill (1). With some changes in the team and after a motivational speech, we started the second half with a different attitude.

A corner kick was picked up by Rory in the 35th minute which he buried in the back of the net. 3 minutes later Dylan was brought down in the box and the referee awarded a Penalty. A great save from the Passage goalie prevented us to increase our lead. In the 20th minute, we saw some great passing between Rory, Eoghan and Dylan resulting in a Dylan shot just inches wide. A few minutes later, just as we thought we had the game under control, a through ball brought a Passage attacker one on one with Ronan and unfortunately Passage made no mistake cooly slotting home to get the 1-2. Passage was upping the pressure and we had only 5 minutes left to save the game. The pressure woke up our lads and they showed true team spirit and passion in the last few minutes. Another Eoghan corner was cleared away by the passage defence, only to be picked up by Dylan. His lob almost surprised the goalie but Cillian was there to slot in the 1-3 from close range. Some great passing play in the last minute resulted in Eoghan putting another goal on the score card. 

Final Score - Passage United (1) v (4) Watergrasshill United.
