FAI Child Welfare Policy and Basic Awareness Workshop

11 of our Watergrasshill United coaches attended the Child Welfare Policy and Basic Awareness Workshop earlier today organised by the FAI and the Irish Sports Council.

Any person working or volunteering with children in any capacity on behalf of a club needs to have completed this FAI approved “Basic Awareness” training course, and as a club we are well under way to have all our coaches certified. The workshop discussed the Code of Ethics & Good Practice for Children's Sport drafted by the Irish Sports Council. It highlighted the following 5 P's of the Code of Ethics

1. Principles: Core Values & Guiding Principles
2. People: Roles and Responsibilities
3. Policy & Procedures: Clubs & Organisations
4. Practice: Making it Happen
5. Protection: Statutory Guidelines & advice
