U16 Watergrasshill United 9 – 2 Kinsale

Our U16 girls team put in another commanding performance in the first division of the Cork Womens and Schoolgirls league. Kinsale made the trip to Skehanagh Park on a chilly November afternoon that saw plenty of goals and non-stop action.

Hannah Healy opened the scoring for Watergrasshill in the 3rd minute with a fine finish that left the Kinsale keeper rooted to the spot. Jessica O Leary doubled the lead two minutes later with a fine strike before Kay Sheehan added a third on the 12th minute to put some space between the teams. Kinsale kept fighting and crafted a route back into the game in the 14th minute when they pulled a goal back to make it 3-1. However, Lisa O’ Keeffe restored the three goal lead a minute later before Jessica O’ Leary scored a brace to complete her hat-trick to make the score 6-1 at half time.

Watergrasshill continued to dominate at the start of the second half with Monica Roche getting on the score sheet in the 50th minute before Jessica O’ Leary grabbed her fourth goal of the afternoon a few minutes later. Leanne Loftus scored Watergrasshill’s ninth goal of the game in the 58th minute after some fine work from midfield before Kinsale grabbed a consolation goal in the 60th minute with the match finishing 9-2 in favor of Watergrasshill United.
