National Cup – Watergrasshill U15 V Mayfield

In an amazing match Watergrasshill Utd U15s bowed out of the national cup losing 9-6 after extra time yesterday to premier team Mayfield United. Wgh Utd played brilliantly throughout the game and raced into an unbelievable 5-1 lead 5 minutes into the 2nd half with goals from Adam Murphy, Aaron Collins, Josh Cooke and PJ Dennehy (2). All looking well until the man in black decided to intervene and sent off our excellent centre back for a bs 'last man' tackle, ignored blatant dangerous late tackles on us, played 10 minutes extra and forgot there is an offside rule in soccer. The net result is that the game finished 5-5 in normal time and as above in et. Its very tough to take a defeat like this but it does show how good the team is if given a fair deal. Well done lads and lets hope we get a bit of luck as the season progresses. Thx Noel & Pat
