Why Watergrasshill United participate in Futsal competitions…

Futsal is the fastest growing sector in world soccer.

It is the official UEFA & FIFA version of 5-a-side soccer.

The name derives from the Spanish/Portugese phrases for indoor soccer, Futbol Sala and Futebol de Salao.

We participate in these competitions because:

It helps improve skill,composure,quick-thinking & rapid decision making.

Players are more involved in the game and get more touches of the ball.

Playing in tight spaces makes players, of all ability, think about movement and improves their close control and passing.

Futsal generates more opportunities to get shots on goal and is a unique and fun experience for younger players.

To date, the feedback from coaches,teams & parents is very positive and is seconded by the numbers that attend each blitz.

Thanks of course to all families who continue to support & travel to these important soccer sessions, ensuring that these Futsal Indoor Blitzes will be a permanent feature in our Academy soccer season as the Club continues to give every player and member, of all ability, the opportunity to play soccer. This is a primary objective of the Club.

These competitions are for our boys & girls underage academies and are held peridoically in The Sports Village on the Model Farm Road.
