U14’s Fight For A Point Away to Everton
With a very tight squad, a tired but upbeat U14's travelled to Togher to face Everton. It was a difficult game with the glaring sun and evening chill adding to the challenges.
The Hill went a goal up inside five minutes after a great ball fed James through, who showed great composure to round the Everton keeper and slot the ball in the bottom corner.
However, the weekends activities and injuries soon took its toll as Everton started to seize control of the game and ended up leading 2-1 at half-time.
The Hill kept plugging away in the second half and were rewarded with our second goal as James once again was played through by a lovely pass and rounded the keeper again. However, Everton restored their lead minutes later.
It looked like it was going to be another one of those days until Seamus was fouled just on the edge of the box. Dusting himself off, Seamus hit a cannon-ball free kick that went straight past the Everton keeper and rifled the net behind.
The game finished at 3-3 and Watergrasshill left the field the much happier team. It was a gutsy performance from the lads who showed great heart and determination to fight back and secure a well-earned point against a very technical side. This was a great result considering the number of players absent through injury and those who played despite carrying knocks.
Many thanks to all the players and parents for their support on the night and to Derry, Chris & Frank on the line.
Squad: Tom, Conor, Andrew, Adam, Darren, Seamus, Daniel Mc, Karol, Kieran, Greg, Chris & James.
Next game is a Last 32 home fixture against Riverstown in the Local Cup Saturday April 6th.
