Watergrasshill United U11 (5) – Corinthians U11A (2)

Our Watergrasshill U11 CSL season kicked of this morning with a solid win over Corinthians U11A in division 2 in which they came back from a 2-0 deficit.

Due to injuries we started with the bare 9 players and no subs. Starting uphill and against the wind in the first half, we kept 4 man at the back with Ronan in goal. A great save from Ronan prevented an early Corinthians lead and on the other side, Nicky and Eoghan had some great chances blocked by the goalie. Corinthians took the lead at the 14th minute and added a second one 10 minutes later. Our lads didn't loose their composure and a fantastic solo from Brendan brought us back in the game. Soloing from the back line, dribbling around 6 players  he blasted the ball in the back of the net. A volley from Eoghan, from a last minute corner kick from Rory, landed in front of Nicky's feet, who didn't hesitate. Half time score Watergrasshill United U11 (2) - Corinthians U11A (2).

In the second half, with the wind in the back, we gained more and more ball possession. We moved the backline much more forward and caught the Corinthians forwards off site time after time. 15 minutes into the second half Cillian brought us into the lead with a well placed shot.  Within 5 minutes, a fantastic shot from Eoghan, curved from the left hand side of the pitch, was unstoppable for the goalie. 4-2. Two minutes later, Nicky escaped the off site trap and stormed towards the corinthians goal, scoring with a fantastic lob over the goalie. A 3 goal lead that we defended well in the last 5 minutes. Well done lads. A great start to the CSL league with both U11 teams winning 5-2.
