Junior Team progress to round 3 of County Cup

Watergrasshill Utd 3 – Carrigtwohill Utd B 1

In the AUL match of the week, our Junior team are through to the third round of the County Cup after a hard fought win over Carrigtwohill B . The visitors are riding high at the top of Div 3A but on a sunny morning and on an excellent playing surface, it was clear from the start that the Hill were up for this one.  In the first 10 minutes Johnny Dorgan broke through to clinically slot home to the bottom left corner of the Carrigtwohill net.  He was soon forced off with injury and another blow saw JP Buckley also having to be replaced early on.

Carrigtwohill got back into this one midway through the half after an attempted cross from the left carried on the breeze into the Hill net but the response was instant, this time Ronan Brady rising highest to meet a superb Fergal Murphy cross.

The second half was a tight affair but we had plenty chances to increase our lead before Dave O Riordan was brought down in the box with a few minutes to go and man of the match Dave Dennehy sent the keeper the wrong way to make the game safe.

A solid performance all round in both defence and attack ,meant the victory was fully deserved and gives us a third round clash to look forward to !
