U11 Local Cup Semi Final: Watergrasshill United (3) vs (2) Mallow United

We faced Mallow today in the Local Cup Semi Final. With Mallow finishing 2^nd in the Premier league this year we knew we were in for a battle. The game kicked off and within 3 minutes we were 1 up with Nicky poaching a goal on the back post. What a start, more than one could wish for. 4 minutes later it was 2, with Adam’s header from a corner. Was this real, it sure was. We were grounded when Mallow pulled one back with a very fortunate goal. 4 minutes before the end of the first half Joseph netted a 3^rd. 3 - 1 was the half time score.

We talked to the lads and they could feel the occasion and they were thriving in it. 10 minutes into the second half Mallow scored their 2^nd and now it was really on for both sides. To a man all 12 played their part in keeping Mallow at bay as they pushed & pushed for the equaliser. Relief all round when the final whistle went.

This was an outstanding performance from everyone.

Thanks to all parents & club managers / coachers / players for your support today, it really meant a lot to the lads.
