Apr 7th – Under 11 v Mallow United – League Game (4-4)

Picture: Eoin Griffin who scored twice today Saturday April 7 in our under 11 league game at home v Mallow United

Under 11: Watergrasshill United 4 - 4 Mallow United

A game we were unlucky not to win.

This was a big league game for our under 11's and it was important we didn't come away with a defeat.

We started with the bare 11 and lost Shane at half time leaving us playing the entire second half with 10 players. However in fairness to Mallow thay too reduced they playing team to 10, thanks Spencer of Mallow United.

A great game to watch we went down to a very soft goal within the first 5 minutes and took us until the second half to get out of first gear. Mallow were aided in the first half with a very strong breeze and really out ran us in the middle of the park.

Before we knew it we were 4-1 down

The second half was an entirely different story as tough words of encouragement at the half time interval from Pat & Paul seemed to lift our spirits and determination. With the loss of Shane, the back four, in front of Colm, of Ethan, Tim, Rob and Harry were solid and Sean, Seamus & James began to run the show with good running & fighting from Eoin & Paddy up front.

We battled hard which resulted in several corners each of which James landed with percision into the six yard box, Eoin got his head to one & indeed we had 3/4 more chances from such set pieces. Something we need to work on at training.

Overall a very positive & spirited TEAM performance and a well deserved draw RESULT.

Team: Colm, Ethan, Tim, Rob, Shane, Harry, Seamus, Sean, James,Paddy & Eoin.

Goal scorers: Eoin 2, Sean, James

Man Of The Match: Rob, for his overall performance and getting his foot & head to everything.
