Apr 15th – U8 Glounthaune (2) v (7) Watergrasshill United

On a beautifull Sunday evening we travelled to Glounthaune for our first away match of the season. The game was tight at the beginning but we took the lead in the 7th minute with a powerfull header from Joseph from a Dylan corner. Glounthaune levelled with a sweet strike which was greeted by the words from Ryan of "These goals are too small". In the 10th minute we regained the lead with another Joseph goal, again from a Dylan corner. The first period finished Glounthaune 1 WGH 2. The second period wasn't long underway before Glounthaune levelled. This spurred the boys on and we finally started to take control of the game. Goals started to come, first up was Darragh from a pass from Daniel. Eoghan struck next after a sweet through ball from Dylan. We finished off the period with another goal from Eoghan. The final period saw two more goals, one from Ryan and finally the hatrick from Joseph to make the final score Glounthaune 2 WGH 7. The scoreline could have been more but for some excellent goalkeeping from Glounthaune keeper in the final period.

The lads were tired and jaded after their two week Easter break and all were looking forward to returning back to school tomorrow.

Credit must be given to the lads as they all played their part in a great team performance. Every player plays in different positions from Ryan, Joseph and Sam in goal for a period each. Our policy is to rotate positions and see how the lads adapt to these positions. Eoghan played some lovely long passes from the back, the tireless running of Brendan, who had just come from Funderland, the dribbling of Dylan and Sam. The determination of Joseph to get those goals from the corners, the ability to adapt of Darragh and Daniel playing on the left and ability of Ryan to play anywhere.

Thanks to all parents who travelled and supported the boys today.

Thanks to Referee, Sean from Glounthaune

Squad : Ryan, Eoghan, Brendan, Daniel, Darragh, Joseph, Dylan & Sam.
