U14 Park Utd (2) V (1) Watergrasshill Utd

Sometimes you don't get what you deserve and that was the case today when our U14's took on Park away, in their first league encounter of the season. In a match where the pitch was small the game from the off was a physical affair and the lads did not disappoint. Park threw down the challenge and the lads not only stood up to a man but then started to play football. Some excellent passes from Colin in midfield had Park in trouble and some ones on ones came and went with some excellent goalkeeping from Parks keeper. The two Padraigs in addition to the running from Evan and Sean were giving Christy and Colin some great options. We took the lead with a deflection from Colin's free kick. Park 0 Watergrasshill Utd 1. With Tom and Lee marshalling the defence we saw out the rest of the half comfortably to lead going into the break. Once again Parks keeper came to their rescue with some fine goalkeeping in the second half. Against the run of play, Park were awarded penalty that was harsh but the referees decision is final and Park levelled the scores. The game was in the balance and the lads drove on for the winner but sometimes our desire for that goal left Shane and Seamus exposed as the back. A cross from Park resulted in them taking the lead against the run of play. Jake and Mark came on to freshen up some tired legs due to the soft ground and to our best efforts we were unable to get at least a point that was so richly deserved. To quote the Park coach "We got out of jail". We will take the positives and build on them. Well done lads. Final Score: Park 2 -Watergrasshill Utd 1 Scorer: Colin Squad: Niall, Seamus, Jake, Tom, Shane, Padraig, Christy, Colin, Padraig, Evan, Mark, Lee & Sean. Thanks to all parents who travelled for your continued support.
